Coffee makes the world go round. It has become part of our morning routine and a habit of enjoyment. However, there’s more to coffee than what we roast and grind every day.
Coffee mythology says that goat farmers in Ethiopia saw a burst of energy in their livestock, as if the animals were dancing, after ingesting a coffee cherry. The common belief is that the goats were energized from coffee, but what if they were enjoying the next Superfruit - the coffee cherry itself?
This product, commonly referred to as ‘coffee cherry’ or ‘cascara’ can create a beverage that possesses natural antioxidants and polyphenols and has a flavor profile similar to cola, tamarind, black tea, and plum.
Currently the coffee industry produces substantial waste. They contribute 16.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in coffee cherry every year. Cascara syrup is one way to divert coffee waste from the landfill while providing you with a refreshing beverage.
